**When they ask if you do DIY around the house!**
When it comes to high fashion, as much as it can be very classic and couture, it can also be very alternative to say the least. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t walk down the street with a toolbox, but a Chanel toolbox inspired bag; why not! Its different thats for sure and being rather simple yet bold, it certainly is a statement piece, I’d like to rock!

…When you become more and more in love with Mansur Gavriel.
The duo; Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel first had my attention with their bucket bags; but as of late I am obsessed with backpacks; so when I saw these, I became a true Mansur Gavriel fan. To be honest, even if I wasn’t going through a backpack phase- I’d find it hard not to be drawn to these beauties. Especially, since I love love love orange and this dusty powder pink is trending right now. Granted, there are an array of colours to select from, however the above pair couldn’t be more perfect!
The backpacks are so simply in style yet make such an impact as a fashion item. As simple as Mansur Gavriel’s designs are known to be, their inspirations from “the contrast of warm, natural textures and the clear, clean intensity of pop colors” are strongly and consistently represented; making each “simple” piece far from Plain Jane but more of a statement piece contender. Designed in New York with great attention to detail and made in Italy with the finest materials, Mansur Gavriel are really starting to stamp their mark – and I can not get enough!
Backpack envy much?!
For a while now I have had my eye on Sophia Webster and everything she is about. Granted, her designs can be weird and wacky, but they are also very unique, creative, quirky and fun. Plus, you need a bit of weird and wacky for that statement shoe!
Based on how different Webster is as a shoe designer, together with originality that comes through season after season, I always thought I’d go Sophia Webster when I went for that statement pair of designer shoes. And I think that specific time is fast approaching!
The above design is not so weird and wacky per se, however they are certainly different and quite the statement piece. The khaki geometric aztec pattern is pretty cool (finished in calf hair might I add) and made all the more interesting with the clear insert placed just before the metallic pink pointed toe. The cylinder shaped 4″ heel is also perfect; its not too typically stiletto nor is it your classic “thick heel”; its the perfect combination of both, and at just the right height too! The entire ensemble is the epitome of unique when it comes to the style of female footwear- and I love love love it!
I never thought I’d even consider nude shoes, much less wear them, but the latest collection from Louboutin kind of make it look cool…
…Granted, I have no idea what they would even look like on my foot or what I would even wear them with, but they definitely step over the safe ‘playing it safe’ line! Ironically, you would think a shoes so simple and plane would be considered ‘playing it safe’, however the ‘nude move’ is definitely a bold and brave one!
Available in 5 nude “skin tones” and 4 different styles; there is plenty of choice for every fashionable lady that wants to go nude this season! With a heel varying from 100-120mm, and a selection of peep, pointed and rounded toe; from the Deepik Kid, Pigalle, Fifi Kid and So Kate ranges; it truly is a stylish nude experience!
Admittedly, I am a lover of all things Minion and naturally; as a fashion enthusiast; i’m obsessed with shoes. Particularly those with a heel and designer label-guilty. However, ironically these Rupert Sanderson Limited edition, Minion inspired court shoes, are not doing it for me. Yes, they are quirky and cool, just not the statement piece for me. I’m all for a good statement piece, and whilst that may consist of a colour pop and the weird and wonderful; I reckon these are just a step too far for me.
With that said, if money was not object and I had a few trendy/edgy places to go to, I could make it work. I can see them being pulled off, with either a black or white knee length shift dress, or an equally mono-chrome ensemble of skinny jeans, a crop top and long sleeveless blazer. Having just visualised the above, i’m kind of, sort of, maybe changing my mind about these bazaar shoes! With the right outfit and of course the right place to go; they’re not half bad. #MinionNation.
…Dolce and Gabbana are quite literally opening doors in the fashion world this season, through footwear and what I can only assume was inspired by art. This black Dolce & Gabbana pump features a T-bar black jacquard body with a captivating hinged heel which opens to reveal a sacred heart adorned with pearls and beading [Moda Operandi]. They certainly are an interesting pair of shoes. They look like they were designed in reflection of a fairytale or some sort of fantasy, nevertheless for that unique and quirky statement piece this Spring, they definitely do justice. So heres to the weird and wonderful heel, brought to us this SS15 by a pair of Italy’s finest; D&G!
