So one post just was not enough.

Last night Taraji looked absolutely amazing on the red carpet; before later taking to the stage with her cast mates, winning (in every aspect) and giving a memorable, emotional and inspiring acceptance speech! Wearing a powder pink Reem Acra, New York original, Taraji looked stunning as she had a strong and sassy ora about her, a radiant glow and showed off her new hair cut at the SAG Awards. Complete with minimal jewellery and what looks like, no accessories; Ms Henson rocked the see-through, hand embellished gown with more than just a touch of class.

Ok, so not quite golden, but yellow is close enough right?! Although, its never my first port of call in a gown, these ladies made it work (yellow that is) and equally looked stunning at last night’s 74th Golden Globe awards; as they graciously strutted down the red carpet, before stopping to smile and pose!

From the top left, clockwise; Natalie Portman wears a deep pastel yellow, almost-mustard floor length (three-quarter) sleeved gown, by Prada. Her look was very simple, elegant and I want to say; quite medieval!

Next, is the stunning Scandal star, Ms Kerry Washington. Personally, I do not favour this dress. However, Washington (who just had her second baby a few months ago) looked absolutely radiant down the red carpet in a Dolce & Gabbana dress. The see-through pale-golden yellow midi floral dress, was finished with angel wing-like shoulder cuffs and what looks like a broach embellished side belt (thing).Granted, its different and not really my cup of tea per se, but Kerry never fails to impress and (as I said) made it work!

In the bottom right hand corner; Hollywood walk of fame’s latest star; Viola Davis, wore the brightest yellow of them all and blissfully smiled for the camera (and later glided to the stage) in Michael Kors. The classic Greek style, floor length, one-shoulder gown, was a tasteful and subtle approach to “glitz & glam”.

Last but not least, my favourite (dress not person); Reese Witherspoon; in a pastel yellow Atelier Versace gown! Although its quite Prom-come-bridesmaid, I really like this dress. The classy length together with the saucy side slit, and the modern take to the classic sweetheart neckline; gives off a sexy sophisticated look; and completed with some simple jewellery, its picture perfect!

It turns out yellow isn’t so bad after all and hey, for the Golden Globes, its pretty appropriate wouldn’t you say?!

Just when you thought an Apple Watch was wearable/ fashionable technology, the fashion designers of today tell you otherwise!

Last night’s Met Gala, saw actress Claire Danes quite literally glowing on the Red Carpet! Dressed in Zac Posen, Danes was all about the LIGHTS, Camera, Action!

Screen Shot 2016-05-03 at 11.53.57

Having worked for Google in the past, Posen is known for more than just embracing the evolution of technology, but bringing it to the runway and fusing his technological creativity with fashion!
The Cinderella like gown, is made from custom fibre optic woven organza; that I can only assume cost a lot and was a challenge to work with-a stylish challenge nevertheless! Although the dress is a little too bright for me (just a tad), I am impressed by the idea and given Zac Posen’s background, he is a true creative genius! All in all, it is a lovely gown and Claire Danes looked stunning in it! She really lit up the room!

Currently in love with everything Zuhair Murad. His style and attention to detail is just exquisite and I can not get enough of it. Murad’s unique designs, together with the carefully selected material used, are beyond b-e-a-utiful!

For me, its the delicateness that he brings to each design as well as the “2 piece” look (often a floor length, sensual figure hugging dress, accompanied by an optional/ removable Cinderella-like skirt, train or cape; phsyically adding visual depth to each garment and in turn; creating absolute perfection). Where a gown can look sexy and sophisticated; I’m all for it and Zuhair Murad has a way of doing this like no one else! His collections have a consistent trend and continuity; with a majority of his peices having a sheer finish, very femine structures, hemlines and necklines, hand embroidered overlays in sequin, floral, brocade..etc, as well as a core sense of glitz and glam meets elegant.

His designs are unique enough for the catwalk (season after season), jaw-dropping and beautiful enough for walking down the aisle and certainly glamorous enough for the red carpet. From Bridal collections and Ready-to-wear, to Resort and Couture; Murad is faultless. Absolutley aaa-mazing!

Watch this space, there is definetly more Zuhair Murad to come!

…Last night’s 73rd Golden Globes Awards saw many celebrities take the red carpet in an array of fabulous designers. The females in particular stole the show and looked amazing in their various gowns. It seems white was pretty popular and came in a handful of styles, cuts and and necklines.

Lily James and Saoirse Ronan looked oh so elegant as they glided across the red carpet in their flowy floor length gowns with nipped in high-waists. James wore Marchesa while Ronan wore Yves Saint Laurent. Also in couture Saint Laurent, Jane Fonda looked fabulous in an all white (accessories included) figure hugging long sleeved gown, finished off with some questionable ruffles. Alicia Vikander also flaunted some ruffles;  but in a much smaller degree; as they delicately embellished the neckline of her Louis Vuitton apron gown. Last but not least, and the sexiest of them all; both Eva Longoria and Taraji kept it simple and stylish in sexy-sophisticated, figure hugging floor length gowns. Taraji wore all Stella McCartney (teeny tiny Falabella bag included) with a boob-tube cut and classy cape. Whereas, Longoria wore a Georges Hobeika conservative dress, hand embellished at the hips/ neckline and finished with an elegant front slit.

Capes are certainly in this season and were seen worn by many women last night in colours beyond white. However out of the gorgeous white gowns below, half of them were accompanied by matching capes; completing each look and making the women all the more stunning! #Capes

I think we can all agree that Jennifer Lopez looked amazing last night at this year’s Golden Globes. I wouldn’t naturally consider yellow for an evening gown, however Jlo certainly proved me wrong, as she pulled it off!

Wearing a caped Giambattista Valli haute couture gown and 200 carats of diamonds in accessories, Lopez looked absolutely stunning. As well as her choice of wardrobe, Jlo’s hair and makeup was on point; simple, elegant and drop-dead-gorgeous!

Just days ago, in the city that never sleeps; Marc Jacobs showcased his Spring/Summer’16 collection at New York Fashion Week; and just last night at the Emmy Awards, Kerry Washington wore one of these Jacobs original- straight off the runway.

Made entirely from mesh and so delicately embellished, Jacobs’ silver gown was just enough Glitz and Glam for last night’s event.  Plus, Washington wore it ooh so well. It was fitted enough to show off her figure, yet not too tight (considering the material used) and lets not ignore that sexy yet sophisticated slit! Kerry certainly did the dress justice and at only 72 hours post-catwalk, she is the definition of “Off the Runway”!

Always “dressed to impress”, another one of Shona Rhimes’ leading ladies; the infamous “Olivia Pope”; looked fabulous on the red carpet. And just in time too; to remind us about Scandals’s Season 5 premier later this week! #ShondaLand

…some of my favourites from last night’s red carpet!

Above is my favourite of them all. Although I’m yet to find out the designer for this gorgeous gown; director, screenwriter and film distributor; Ava DuVernay, pulls it off amazingly. The elegant dress is the perfect cut, colour and shape. DuVernay truly looked stunning. Although she did not win yesterday, she was nominated for best director for her work on Selma. She is also the first female black director to be nominated for a Golden Globe.

Below is Orange is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba (Crazy eyes) looking out of character but stunning nevertheless as she rocks a pastel gown and matching lippy on the red carpet. Teyonah Parris in a modern day Disney princess-like dress. Sharon Leal standing out in royal blue. Tracee Ellis Ross in a textured figure hugging dress. Kerry Washington is back in the game after her wardrobe horror at the Golden Globes a few weeks ago, as she poses in A red floor length dress and Ferragamo clutch. Last but not least is Gabrielle Union in a cut-out, slightly backless light peach dress.

The long awaited red carpet moment at the 72nd Golden Globe awards and this is what happened…

As 3 of my favourites, this is extremely disappointing. Left to Right; Bridesmaid‘s Melissa McCarthy wears a completely original and somewhat hideous ensemble made with items from her wardrobe, sewn together. Homemade is all good and well, but when it looks like that, its most definitely is a no go! Don’t get me wrong, the top isn’t half bad but the way in which it has been attached to that awful frilly skirt completely ruins the outfit. Minus the frills and maybe an A-line instead, the hilarious and loveable actress could have made “homemade” work on the red carpet.

In the middle, is Kerry Washington. Known for her dominant role as Olivia Pope on Scandal, Washington is more often than not, dressed very chic, classy and some would say conservative; both on and off set; so what happened here? Typically in the spot light at these events for her sense of style, amazing outfits and fashion forward appearance, Kerry Washington’s stylist made a major error on Sunday night. Wearing an off the shoulders Mary Katrantzou dress, Miss Washington looks extremely stiff, almost awkward and certainly out of place (compared to her usual “stunning-ness”) at this year’s Golden Globes.

Finally, on the right is Orange is the New Black‘s Taryn Manning. Looking completely different to her character, Tiffany ‘Pennsatucky’ Doggett  from Netflix‘s favourite; OITNB, Manning destroys this Oscar De La Renta gown. As an all time admirer of the late, De La Renta’s work and avid OITNB fan, seeing this actually upsets me. The dress just does not go with her body shape-it does nothing for her (not without alterations anyway). Furthermore, she could have worn some different shoes; perhaps a colour pop and/or a stand-out clutch to at least try and make what should be a fabulous dress, work! What’s worse is that she has the cheek to wear peep-toe shoes and not even paint her toes; its common knowledge; if your not going to dress them up, cover them up! Just saying.

So all in all; a loveable and personal favourite actress of mines, Melissa McCarthy, proved not to be so funny. As a Scandal obsessed fan and lover of all things Kerry Washington, i’m disappointed in her recent stunt and last but not least (well maybe), another representation of a TV show favourite (OITNB) has failed to impress off screen and made an Oscar De La Renta look bad. #SayNoToTheDress

Aged 82 and having battled with cancer for a decade, gown extraordinaire, Oscar De La Renta died yesterday. As one of the designers that put New York on the map in the 70s and 80s, the man who dressed several first ladies and even more famous figures on the red carpet and some down the isle, De La Renta will surly be missed.

Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in spain, De La Renta worked with Cristobal Balenciaga and Elizabeth Arden before starting his own label in Manhattan in 1965. The fashion icon who’s approach was to make a woman “feel her best”, won awards for his amazing bridal collections and was considered “King of the Evening”. De La Renta never did anything by halves. He was a true contributor to high fashion as well as bridal wear and will never be forgotten.

Just weeks ago he put on a fabulous show at New York Fashion Week and more recently, dressed George Clooney’s new bride. Due to his exquisite designs that left you somewhat speechless and his elegant approach, he was a personal favourite of mines. Every design was so unique, beautiful and well thought through. From every layer of lace, every floral pattern and every sequin sewed on to every section of embroidery and every fit and flare; Oscar De La Renta’s collections were both flawless and faultless every single time. Whenever a beautifully immaculate, jaw-dropping and standout gown was worn down the runway, red carpet, awards ceremony or inaugural ball; you knew when it was a De La Renta dress, without reading the caption. His designs were statement-making yet in a discrete and elegant way. Everything about his work was beautiful and i loved it (still do). You can’t not admire his work. He truly is a legendary designer.

To the man who battled with cancer for 10 years and didn’t let it knock him down; Rest In Peace Oscar De La Renta.
