…I still call it the View From the Top… and it continues.
As the seasons change, so does the attire. So look out for layers upon layers, winter warmers and frosty finishes.
…And it continues. The latest snaps from The View From the Top.
Having previously fallen in love with the The Big Apple; I always knew I’d be back. Back to the glamour, glory, fortune and fame…Not! Well not for me anyway (not yet). Just back to the sites, shops and skylines! Ironically, with that said, as much as I was looking up; as usual; I was capturing the “View from the Top”, and focusing down. Before VFTT 109, there has been a lot more exotic, rural and tropical shots, so I figured it was time to break it up a bit, to get back to the city and to momentarily replace mother nature . What better place to start, than the concrete jungle itself?
Since I’ve already been the clichè NY tourist; I took a step back this time and saw more of New york for what it is. Staying in Brooklyn’s finest and yet so typical Brownstone apartments, I felt like I was home. Granted, it was a short (but sweet) trip, there was something about not staying in a hotel in the centre of Midtown, that opened my eyes and made me want to go back for than just a visit. I could avoid the crazy, jam-packed city that never sleeps, yet still enjoy the “New York vibe”. Having strolled through a couple of parks and the Botanical gardens, I could quite literally stop and smell the roses. Minus the Subway system (to which I won’t rant on about), I still love New York. Therefore, yet again; I’ll be back! #WatchThis Space
When it’s June and still cold…
…If I’m honest, I don’t really know what else to say. Its ridiculous yet we have to deal with it, so I won’t rant on and on about “The Great British Weather”. To brighten up my cold and miserable grey days, I quite literally appear brighter. In a Zara favourite and classic Kenzo (jumper),this is my current situation; until further notice from the weathuer man. I love my orange coat, I do, and even though it’s most definitely a winter coat; it’s perfect for these winter-like, so called “summer” months! #OrangeIsTheNewBlack.
Two iconic French brands; Kenzo and Evian have teamed up to create these “naturally playful” limited edition bottles.
Since 2008, the French water brand have been teaming up with various designers to jazz up packaging and introduce fashion to the everyday. In the past Evian have collaborated with other celebrated designers, including Elie Saab, Issey Miyaje, Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier and Paul Smith. This year, the Parisian designer, Kenzo are taking the spotlight with their abstract pattern – also featured in the brand’s AW14 collection. Kenzo’s creative directors; Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, have explored the shape and structure of Evian’s water source; the Alps, with line, graphics, colour and geometric design to link the two French brands together.
These bottles of water come in both plastic and glass. They’re are limited edition too, so keep an eye out for yours!
As 2013 draws to an end and everyone looks back on the year; reminiscing and dwelling on could haves, would haves and should haves; I have reflected on the year in fashion. From fabulous handbags to the latest trends, new store openings and celebrity clothing lines, I have put together some memorable fashion highlights from over the last 365 days.
Starting with my favourite, my inspirations, my main man; Marc Jacobs.
Marc Jacobs leaves Louis Vuitton
After 16 spectacular years as Louis Vuitton’s creative director, Marc Jacobs announced that he would be leaving the French fashion house to focus on his own brands. Since joining Louis Vuitton in 1997, Marc Jacobs transformed the luggage brand and created something sensational. The announcement came at the end of Paris Fashion week, where Jacobs truly put on a show for his last collection with LV; making a memorable exit.
Orange is the new black
With a summer of bright and vibrant colours, orange was definitely a personal favourite. From a bright Celine bag and statement shoes to a pop of colour and a pretty summer dress, orange was very much “the new black”. Even as winter approached, the trend continued in beanie hats, Kenzo jumpers and even a few fur coats.
Kate Moss poses for Playboy
As Kate Moss approaches 40, she proves to be younger than ever as she is shot nude for the cover of Playboy. To celebrate 60 years of the worlds favourite men’s magazine (and brand), the January/ February (2014) issue will feature Britain’s face of fashion. The Supermodel will also appear in a 18-page pictorial in the coming Anniversary double issue. So watch this space.
D&G are sent to prison
The fashion designer duo; Dolce and Gabbana were sentenced to jail for tax evasion. Although the pair were initially cleared on the charge in 2011, the case was opened again and the 2 were accused of hiding million (in euros) from the Italian tax authorities. As it stands Dolce and Gabbana have avoided life behind bars (until further notice) due to their suspended sentences, as a result of a pending appeal. Once again, watch this space.
From the catwalks of fashion week to the urban runway that is street fashion, 2013 has seen more and more matchy matchy outfits. Matching tops to bottoms, the trend is very classical yet extremely modern, with an alternative twist. Going for the boyish look, some of the trend involves the traditional blazer and trouser type of suit, where others are slightly more up to date and refreshing; matching crops to bottoms.
Heres to the end of 2013 and welcoming yet another year of fabulous memories, once -in-a-lifetime moments and plenty of glitz and glam! Let the countdown begin and bring on Two Thousand and Fourteen.
