The touching and empowering movie; Hidden Figures, proved to be more than successful as joy spread across the stage and filled the auditorium, at last night’s Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

Based on a true story about 3 African- American women who aided NASA in their space race in the 60s, the brilliant minds of Katherine G Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson; played by Taraji P Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe; used science and maths to provide invaluable contributions- that almost went unnoticed. But thanks to the above actresses, these inspirational women’s story has been told and it is hidden no more! Triumphing, the Hidden Figures’ cast won SAG Award for outstanding performance/ ensemble in a motion picture! If you’ve seen the uplifting movie, you will understand why and if not (yet), I highly recommend watching it as soon as possible! It will make you feel slightly uncomfortable at times (as you watched what generations before us went through), but it will also make you laugh, cry, high-five the air and appalled with sheer happiness.

With melanin popping and everything on fleek, Henson, Spencer and Monáe were certainly slaying- before, during and after yesterday’s awards ceremony; and quite frankly, I cannot get enough! Can you?

…Whilst these snaps were taken on a trip to Berlin earlier in the year (last year rather); I figured now is an appropriate time to share them! As fun as it was capturing the above, it took a one too many takes, a bellyache of laughter and it was actually quite difficult! But hey, the results are pretty cool- so heres to a year of PEACE, LOVE and amazing memories!

With parents who both love to travel and enjoy getting out of the hustle and bustle of London every now and then; I was always going to be a traveller. Especially since my mum and dad went backpacking across The States and came back with a bump; (i.e. Me); therefor there  is no question about it; I was made to travel! Its simply my destiny; to go see the world and to explore!

Even though I have been here and there, until last month I was unable to mark Asia off my map; but now having travelled up and down Thailand for a month, I can finally check it off my list.

Whilst I had an amazing time, my Thailand experience went a little different than expected. As beautiful as it is, I found myself constantly seeking out the “googled” images! The clear blue waters and white sandy beaches surrounded by mountain , majestic tigers playing with humans, happy elephants spraying water at tourists and fancy elephant rides. Although I captured and documented these snaps through; the beauty of Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon and Phiphi island, together with tame tigers and little elephants; my experience behind and in front of the camera was an eye opener. More than just a vacation, but really seeing a place for what it is, it was definetly a step away from your typical holiday brochure.

Having bought a backpack, stayed in a hostel and spent 14 hours on a sleeper train, this was my first trip that I can actually say “I travelled”. Yes, it had its difficulties, but I did it and I am ready to do it again. I’ve well and truly caught the travel bug!

For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to go to Thailand. To see the tigers, ride the elephants, eat the food, sun bathe on the white sandy beaches and swim in clear blue waters. And now I can say it; “been there, done that…Got the stamps too!” -Maybe its the traveller in me, but I actually get really excited about getting stamps in my passport. Doesn’t matter how near or far, if I’m crossing an ocean, border or state, I want a stamp. With this said, my current passport expires in 2019, so that give me 6 years to fill it. Where to next eh?

Its been a while…but I’m back…

After all my travels and adventures across the globe in Thailand (plus a cheeky 3 days in Malaysia), I am back. Back home to the UK and now (as of yesterday) having graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class degree, I am actually home. back in London. For good! (well until next time!)

So its back on. Back to exploring and being a tourist in my own city. Last summer brought the Olympics, sporty fashion, arty mascotts around London, thousands of tourists and their individual dress sense and lets not forget; my favourite; all those funky charity telephone boxes-also plotted around the capital.

Already the weather seems to be better than last “summer”, so lets pray it stays and brings a lot more fashion, craziness and fun. Bring on Summer 2013 I say!

Whilst Thailand proved to have its ups and downs it was without a doubt Aaaa-mazzzing!
So watch this space for more “f word” posts and finally back to my regualr updates!
