When its time to get my “Dora the explorer” on, this Christian Louboutin backpack will have to come along for the adventure!

I’m not one for “busy” looking designs, but I have to say, I really do like this bag and its Hawaiian shirt feel! And of course, it wouldn’t be a Louboutin design without the classic stud embellishment. Again, I never caught on to the whole stud trend, but here it fits in with the style of the backpack and actually adds depth to the overall piece; making it a lot more visually stimulating. Plus, the studs bring a certain glamorous factor to it! #BackPackEnvy

Christian Louboutins are back in nude and in every shade! From flat ballerina pumps, to stilettos, T-bar heels, sophisticated court shoes pointed and peep toes; Louboutin have a shoe for every woman and better yet, they all come in an array of “skin tone” shades! So with summer around the corner (I use the term “summer” loosely in the UK), you can go nude all over- well almost!

When the hot and sexy, yet oh so sophisticated Louboutins you want, don’t just have a “Red Bottom” but are red all over! – Plus, there’s a stunning studded shoulder bag to match!
[see what i did there?!]

Red Christian Louboutins would never have been my first choice, however these red Anjalina stilettos lightly embellished with gold studs, are gorgeous! Personally, I’m not big on the studs trend, but the few used here (rather than in excess, as typically fashioned) work to this particular shoe’s advantage. Its as if each stud was well thought through in regards to positioning and delicately placed on the beautiful red leather- and I love it! This is definitely the kind of style i’d go for, when it comes to a red studded heel! #WishList

So it turns out i’m not the only one obsessed with shoes (and bags-but thats another story for another day); the V&A showcased an entire exhibition based on shoes, the evolution of footwear, well known shoe designers who have dedicated their lives to shoes (for us) and shoe-a-holics alike.

Shoes; Pleasure & Pain, was quite an interesting exhibit. As much as it was thoroughly fascinating walking around glass cabinet display boxes one after the other; both admiring and questioning the the variety of stilettos, mules, pumps, mary-janes, boots, ballet shoes, platforms and sandals…etc; I also found myself learning a thing or two.

From bazaar designs (that honestly look rather uncomfortable), to the simple, sweet and delicate as well as your classic styles and teeny-tiny shoes for bound feet (from China, before foot binding was banned*), not forgetting the history of shoes, the construction process and designer influences; the V&A had quite a display.

*Once a symbol of beauty and status, foot binding, also known as lotus feet, was carried out in China since the 10th century, falling out of favour in the early 20th century before it was outlawed in 1911. – [ Mail online- click here to read and see more on foot binding]

Teeny-tiny foot bound shoes aside, elite shoes also always push the boundaries of form and ignore the anatomy of feet. Whereas sports makers aim to enhance physical performance, elite shoe designers are unconstrained by corners or practicality. Hence the odd styles, DIY flat-packed clear acrylic shoes, 3D printed shoes and  other unusual designs- to say the least!

Shoe making takes into consideration; design, sculpture and engineering; fusing function and art into craftsmanship and technological innovation. Heels are a complex product formed by dozens of parts, to bring the perfect balance that up holds the weight of the wearer as well as a fabulous looking shoe. Having said that, many important elements are not even visible in the finished product and whilst heels seem like simple construction, disassembled elements reveal many layers – that come together just like a jigsaw puzzle!

Who would have though it eh; piecing together the pieces of your Louboutins, Manolos, Jimmy Choos..etc, just like a kid in a toy story! #Shoe-a-holic

Shoes Obsessors: [Excluding me] Left to right…

…Robert is a 3 stripes collector- Adidas of course. He collects mostly vintage trainers and has travelled the world for rare finds, to which are increasingly hard to source day by day, step-by-step!

…Katie is also shoe obsessed and collects high-street shoes; filling book shelves upon book shelves. Despite not being designer shoe obsessed (guilty), she does own a one off pair of fabulous McQueens.

…And last but not least, the late Lionel- a women’s shoe collector also collected regular (non designer/ high-street shoes) but of high quality. He died in 1969 and collected about shoes from 1914- mostly unworn and many unboxed! His collection represents the scarcity of shoes in the inter-war years.

So what can I say; shoes, shoes and more shoes- sounds about right to me! With a small collection of designer shoes and larger collection of high-street shoes (trainers included); I could be next on the list. #WatchThisSpace

Sometimes its ok to let go and give in to your heart’s desire. Even if it is your materialist heart’s desire. Life is too short, so if you really want something, go after it – even if it is Louboutins, Manolos, Sophia Websters or Rockstud Valentinos!

After all, if you can’t treat yourself, who canThats my moto anyway!

Christian-Louboutin-lipstick-collection-5

From fabulous footwear to swanky nail polish, Christian Louboutin will also launch a fancy lipstick range to add to his expanding beauty collection. Available in 38 shades, there will be plenty of choice. Including your timeless reds, seasonal brights, stand-out colour pops, your subtle under-tones and nudey hues; it seems you’ll be able to match your Loubou footwear with your Loubou lippy!

As well as a mixed colour pallet, the Louboutin lipsticks will also come in a mixture of 3 intensities. From colour intentse Velvet Matte to a much softer Sheer Voile, with a Satin Finish in between; theres a luxurious lipstick for every occasion!

Just like the Louboutin nail varnishes, the casing alone is glamorous enough to make you want it. And priced at £60 each, they are most definitely desirable pieces to add to your “It” beauty collection or if you’re like me; it will be enough to just have it (to look at). So get saving, because the Louboutin lipstick range will make its debut in September!!

I never thought I’d even consider nude shoes, much less wear them, but the latest collection from Louboutin kind of make it look cool…

FullSizeRender-2

…Granted, I have no idea what they would even look like on my foot or what I would even wear them with, but they definitely step over the safe ‘playing it safe’ line! Ironically, you would think a shoes so simple and plane would be considered ‘playing it safe’, however the ‘nude move’ is definitely a bold and brave one!

Available in 5 nude “skin tones” and 4 different styles; there is plenty of choice for every fashionable lady that wants to go nude this season! With a heel varying from 100-120mm, and a selection of peep, pointed and rounded toe; from the Deepik Kid, Pigalle, Fifi Kid and So Kate ranges; it truly is a stylish nude experience!

…Love Love Love!

So, I decided after starting with a classic pair of Louboutins, then to a stand-out, pop colour pair of Balenciagas; my next pair of designer shoes are going to be Valentino. I mean what Fashionistas’ wardrobe is complete without a pair of Valentino heels.

Naturally, I wanted a pair of the Rocketed 100 pumps or the So Noir 100 pumps (colour undecided), however after browsing the shelves I fell in love with these bad boys; The Rockee Leather Pump. Quite obviously its the fringing that caught my eyes. But it was also the discrete, yet statement-making clear plastic strap, that drew me in even further. Not to mention the close-attention to detail; with the tiny gold (classic Valentino) studs to which neatly line both the top and underside of the buckle; that I love- this definitely completes the luxury Italian Leather shoe!

In classic black, I wonder if these gorgeous Valentino pumps will even go on sale or just have me breaking the bank! Its all just a waiting game now; will they or won’t they? #SummerSale

Graduation Gown

Its been a while…but I’m back…

After all my travels and adventures across the globe in Thailand (plus a cheeky 3 days in Malaysia), I am back. Back home to the UK and now (as of yesterday) having graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class degree, I am actually home. back in London. For good! (well until next time!)

So its back on. Back to exploring and being a tourist in my own city. Last summer brought the Olympics, sporty fashion, arty mascotts around London, thousands of tourists and their individual dress sense and lets not forget; my favourite; all those funky charity telephone boxes-also plotted around the capital.

Already the weather seems to be better than last “summer”, so lets pray it stays and brings a lot more fashion, craziness and fun. Bring on Summer 2013 I say!

Whilst Thailand proved to have its ups and downs it was without a doubt Aaaa-mazzzing!
So watch this space for more “f word” posts and finally back to my regualr updates!
