…As a foodie, I love cooking and baking just as much as I love eating! And when I get carried away watching Master Chef, inspiration takes over and I think i’m a professional chef!

This simple yet oh-so-tasty dish consisted of an olive oil brushed roasted red pepper, stuffed with honey infused spicy curry lentils and tender green beans, accompanied by rosemary dusted roast potatoes, a side of garlic mayonnaise and dots of sun-dried tomatoes pesto!

When they talk about fashion and being alternative they mean the David Bowies, Lady Gagas, Susie Bubbles and Jeremy Scotts but when they talk about food and being alternative this is what they mean…

…And if they remade Breakfast at Tiffany’s I’m sure this multicoloured bagel would make its Hollywood debut!

Admittedly, these bagels looked rather odd at a first glance; (just like alternative fashion) for the obvious reasons of confusion (also like alternative fashion), but with that second (or fifth) look, it really is something spectacular! Its hard to tell what the baker (and fashion designer alike) was going for. Is it sweet or is it savoury? (is it cool and quirky?) Is it flavoured and artificial? Full of E numbers or super foods? (Statement making, attention seeking, or just out right fashionable and trendy?) And the underlining question; how? How did they do it? Just, how? Quite literally; “food for thought” -wouldn’t you say? (The same goes for fashion and how certain looks get pulled off? Especially the weird and “alternative” ones?)

But back to bagels, I still do not have an answer to that questions, however I can tell you that all the colourful swirls aside, it tasted like a regular plain bagel. No added flavours (to which I was happy about) and no confusion of taste nor an imprint of colour(s) left on my tongue. So all in all a pretty amazing bagel, considering it looked super cool! Far from your average bagel yet it tasted exactly like your average bagel-its a win, win! This is where my inner nerd meets my inner fatty- I mean foodie! And I love it! I mean how can you go wrong when food looks and tastes so good! (At a second glance, that is!)  #FoodPorn

…Ok, it wasn’t quite the “middle” of the week, but as far as i’m concerned and the calendar for that matter, a Thursday-Friday is not the conventional weekend. Long-story-short; I went away for a couple of days on a “spa weekend”- on a weekday! It wasn’t the the Maldives, but it most definitely was a well deserved and much needed break away. Not only was the spa relaxing, but it was in Malvern. As in; out of London! Away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Away from the capital smog and into some fresh country air. Admittedly, the countryside isn’t always my first choice. Hell, who am I kidding, its never my second or third choice either, nevertheless it was wonderful and like I said; a well deserved and much needed break away!

Malvern, Malvern, Malvern…A spa town up north; surrounded by countryside and known for the Malvern Hills; it was the perfect little get away- before the big get away [Watch this space]. Even with 2 (and some) hours on the motorway, it was worth it.

Anyways, as I was saying it was a delight. I mean you simply can not go wrong with an indoor/outdoor heated pool, thermo power jets, a much needed classic steam room, 2 types of saunas and a weird salt room. Oh and lets not forget the 4 types of cold showers (one to which involved a bucket) and ice falling from the ceiling into an elevated ceramic bowl just for when it gets too hot and a little overbearing (i’m not complaining). The deck chairs, sun rays and natural light coming through the large glass windows made it all the more relaxing and stress free. Imagine living in a swimsuit, robe and slippers all day and having no where to go but the “facilities”. Like I said, it was the perfect little get away! And better yet- the food wasn’t half bad either! FineDining, i’ll say! We had dinner for two and breakfast the following morning-and I have to say I was impressed Malvern! It was posh plates of food; complete with perfect presentation; plus it tasted pretty decent.

Take me back any day, please and thank you!

When sitting at the kitchen table with a croissant and a cup of coffee just isn’t enough!

A break in between my studies and a failed attempt to unfreeze my gym membership, I had a craving for oreo cake. mmm.

I’d never made it before but thought id give it a try. I’m glad I did, because I don’t mean to blow my own trumpet, but it was bludy amazing.

Pretty good for a first try and a made up recipe; if you ask me. I didn’t really know how to go about it, so as you do, I relied on trusty old Google. However, all i got was recipes that use ‘devils food cake’ mix, IN A BOX, (I mean what happened to eggs, flour, sugar and butter?) or I got regular cake recipes that just had a dollop of Oreo frosting on the top. I was not having that! So I just made a chocolate cake, added my crumbled oreos and melted chocolate and popped it in the oven. Admittedly  it came out looking like a massive cookie, but once I whipped together the best oreo frosting; from creme cheese, double cream, icing sugar, butter and of course Oreos, It was good to go! Well to be honest, only after I decorated it with yet again even more oreos (mini ones this time), then it was well and truly ready to GO! Cut me a slice (or two) and had it for breaky, whilst watching “Breakfast at Tiffany’s! #perfect
