**When they ask if you do DIY around the house!**

When it comes to high fashion, as much as it can be very classic and couture, it can also be very alternative to say the least. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t walk down the street with a toolbox, but a Chanel toolbox inspired bag; why not! Its different thats for sure and being rather simple yet bold, it certainly is a statement piece, I’d like to rock!

When its time to get my “Dora the explorer” on, this Christian Louboutin backpack will have to come along for the adventure!

I’m not one for “busy” looking designs, but I have to say, I really do like this bag and its Hawaiian shirt feel! And of course, it wouldn’t be a Louboutin design without the classic stud embellishment. Again, I never caught on to the whole stud trend, but here it fits in with the style of the backpack and actually adds depth to the overall piece; making it a lot more visually stimulating. Plus, the studs bring a certain glamorous factor to it! #BackPackEnvy

The long awaited red carpet moment at the 72nd Golden Globe awards and this is what happened…

As 3 of my favourites, this is extremely disappointing. Left to Right; Bridesmaid‘s Melissa McCarthy wears a completely original and somewhat hideous ensemble made with items from her wardrobe, sewn together. Homemade is all good and well, but when it looks like that, its most definitely is a no go! Don’t get me wrong, the top isn’t half bad but the way in which it has been attached to that awful frilly skirt completely ruins the outfit. Minus the frills and maybe an A-line instead, the hilarious and loveable actress could have made “homemade” work on the red carpet.

In the middle, is Kerry Washington. Known for her dominant role as Olivia Pope on Scandal, Washington is more often than not, dressed very chic, classy and some would say conservative; both on and off set; so what happened here? Typically in the spot light at these events for her sense of style, amazing outfits and fashion forward appearance, Kerry Washington’s stylist made a major error on Sunday night. Wearing an off the shoulders Mary Katrantzou dress, Miss Washington looks extremely stiff, almost awkward and certainly out of place (compared to her usual “stunning-ness”) at this year’s Golden Globes.

Finally, on the right is Orange is the New Black‘s Taryn Manning. Looking completely different to her character, Tiffany ‘Pennsatucky’ Doggett  from Netflix‘s favourite; OITNB, Manning destroys this Oscar De La Renta gown. As an all time admirer of the late, De La Renta’s work and avid OITNB fan, seeing this actually upsets me. The dress just does not go with her body shape-it does nothing for her (not without alterations anyway). Furthermore, she could have worn some different shoes; perhaps a colour pop and/or a stand-out clutch to at least try and make what should be a fabulous dress, work! What’s worse is that she has the cheek to wear peep-toe shoes and not even paint her toes; its common knowledge; if your not going to dress them up, cover them up! Just saying.

So all in all; a loveable and personal favourite actress of mines, Melissa McCarthy, proved not to be so funny. As a Scandal obsessed fan and lover of all things Kerry Washington, i’m disappointed in her recent stunt and last but not least (well maybe), another representation of a TV show favourite (OITNB) has failed to impress off screen and made an Oscar De La Renta look bad. #SayNoToTheDress

As well as having just started the Netflix series and becoming absolutely addicted, I have been a little obsessed with orange a while now. From an accessories colour pop to dresses, jumpers and jewellery; orange is definitely the new black.

With a trip to a designer outlet I purchased my latest Marc Jacobs editions; an orange leather clutch and a case for my new phone. Knowing my birthday was approaching, of course I convinced myself it was ok to spend and feed my Marc addiction. Guilty. However, with a new orange bag, needs a new pair of orange shoes, so here they are. The Balenciaga Glove wedge sandals in orange are one of my best designer buys to date-I love them. In regards to fashion, they are the epitome of “Orange is the new Black”! #Love

Fashion Marc Jacobs Spring 2015

2

Saving the best ’til last, Marc Jacobs ended New York Fashion Week Last night with a fantasy feel, dreamlike runway contrasted with his military inspired collection. The catwalk was more like a theatre set with a bright Barbie-pink house surrounded by matching plush pink carpet.

Complete with oversized garments, belted waists, just as oversized pockets and several 3D polka-dots, Jacobs brought a 60s military feel to the runway -with a twist. With a muted colour pallet that consisted of navy, ivory, cream, brown and khaki, together with the texture created by the oversized polk-dots and nipped in waist; S/S15 is going to be an interesting one.

As always Marc Jacobs pays exceptionally close attention to detail. Although he explores bold detailing, he still sticks to simplicity and class; to which I admire most about Jacobs as a designer. Having left Louis Vuitton almost a year ago now, he is able to dedicate his time to his own brands; remaining unique and style focused.

Even though there are times I am not completely in love with his collections or can not see myself wearing a particular garment, I can not fault Mr. Jacobs for his consistency and creative edge.

With the end of June slowly approaching and the weather on the up, it’s official; British summer is actually here. After 4 months in South America (majority in the sun) to having to spend my entire summer in London where “typical British weather” and rain are notorious, I was suspicious about the summer months. Nevertheless, sandal season is upon us and what better way to go about it than with an awesome pair of Marc Jacobs gold buckle up flats, matched with a colour-pop side bag. The foiled texture of the metallic shoes can complete a casual summertime-fine outfit; with a simple yet fashionable influence. Furthermore, the block-colour circular side bag is a perfect match with the geometric quilted detailing adding to the simply yet sophisticated look.

So, this came up in a conversation about Balenciaga. Just look at it. It is B-e-a-utiful!

Since Alexander Wang joined the French fashion house, he has definetly moved mountains for me and most certainly put his stamp on it (Balenciaga that is). From your trade mark ‘Motorcycle’ and ‘City’ Balenciaga bags, I was never too much of a fan. But now 6 months down the line; after Alexander Wang was appointed creative director of the brand; I can honestly say I would buy one. Maybe not now, but in general; its on the list! The ‘Classic Metallic edge Mini Leather Tote’ comes in a few colours, with the burgundy being my favourite and in the ‘City’- you can’t go wrong with the classic black!

Pick of the day

Pick of the day

Forgot ‘pic of the day’ this is the bag of the day, or is it a jacket? what is it? Posted this morning by Vogue, via Instagram, I came across this. I don’t really know what to call it do be honest. But, it is in fact a bag. A classic red, Moschino handbag. Its interesting, pretty cool, but admittedly it does look more like a novelty cake.

More often than not, fashion enables us to read people; often like a book, sometimes like Vogue but most of the time like a free newspaper. I know they say you must not "judge a book by its cover" , but When it comes to fashion, its too easy to make assumptions and pass judgement. Whether you're eyeing up some one's bag, shoes, entire outfit or just their general sense of style; there is always a question, remark, comment or compliment in mind. I am definitely guilty of this. Guilty of starring at someone's bag; either trying to figure out who designed it, how much it cost and why they have it instead of me. Guilty of seeking out the perfect Chanel bag; hanging on the arms of strangers. Guilty of looking at people from head-to-toe when I think an outfit is either hideous or fabulous.  As much as we shouldn't judge people and as wrong as it is; its something we are all guilty of. Lets face it, when it comes to fashion, it just can't be helped. Check out these kool homemade clutch bags, that look like books. As cute, quirky and unique as these clutches are, they also come with a unique and not so cute price tag. But hey, if you got it, flaunt it. I know I'd rather have a book for a bag, rather than a book in my bag. Looks over books eh?!

Its that time again…Marc Jacobs time…ooh yhh!

Having being caught up in uni work and needing to save for the next chapter in my life; Traveling, I have tried not to spend so much money. For me the only way to do that, is by not looking. But now that I have finished my degree and I am free as a bird, I have too much time to just look. So I think its about time i made a new purchase. These new Marc’s are adorable, stylish and perfect for summer. As with all things Marc Jacob’s, I love them. Although I can’t quite decide on what colour yet, I do know that one of my next pay days, its on!
