Inspired by ancient traditions and the Sicilian Cart, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have created a special Sicilian Carretto eyewear collection. With only 100 numbered pieces, the mixture of both optical and sun glasses have been individually crafted by hand; representing the definition of “One of a Kind”; as no two glasses have been decorated the same – making each one completely unique!

Made from canaletto walnut, each frame has been delicately hand-painted with images, symbols and iconography of Sicilian folk culture and history of the Italian island’s famous artistic mode of transport; the Sicilian Cart! Just like the original Sicilian Carretto, every one of the 100 limited edition pieces in the special eyewear collection, reflects Sicily’s tradition and culture through the ample use of of bright colours, multiple layers of paint, Carretto motifs and a great attention to detail!

Personally, I think this is amazing! Dolce and Gabbana have out done themselves in terms of creative inspiration, but on this occasion I have to compliment  the artists/decorators for the precision, time consumption and delicate craftsmanship. The results are truly beautiful. I only wish I could afford a pair and be one of the lucky 100! The pieces from this special eyewear collection are definitely collectable pieces, worth treasuring. Like any high-end limited edition fashion piece, I’m sure these glasses will increase in value and be considered a stylish investment!

So  I know its been a while (a long long while) but I’m back and so is the VFTT. After almost a year of not having travelled any where, I thought it was time for a break a way- in the Sun of course. A lover of all things exotic, culture and beautiful landscape, I spent 10 amazing days in Bali, Indonesia. After my trip to Thailand in 2013, I know i’d be back to South-East Asia in no time and with only 10 days to spare this time, I know i’ll be back again.

Capturing moments, experiences and tropical element; through vibrant colours, nature and pre-summer time vibes; these View From the Top shots are just a snippet of my first trip to Bali.

My kind of “me time”.

As well as window shopping, actual shopping and being able to indulge in a delicious cake (or any dessert for that matter); art, galleries and exhibitons are also a part of my safe heaven. Especially abstract art, photography, impressionism, modern art and of course-anything fashion related.

As one of my favourite galleries, here are some pieces i found most interesting from my last visit to the Saatchi.

On starting this “thing” I never knew how involved i’d be, but I am really quite enjoying it. Trying to create abstract and interesting snap shots in the form of the “view from the top”, in and around different locations, exotic and culture settings has been intriguing. Travelling through Brazil has made it even more exciting; there is so many new things to see and do and the views are beyond imaginable. No, they are not the same from the “top” as they are in person or from a panoramic view but compared to what I’m used to, they are amazing- even from the head down. With such breath taking views and tropical influence, I can’t wait to see the rest of South America and continue snapping. Watch this space! [click here to see what came before]
