…Not a bad statistic right?
So in the last few years I have managed to tick off 4 out of 7 of the “New 7 Wonders of the World”. First The Colosseum in Rome, then both Machu Picchu (Peru) and Rio’s infamous Christ the Redeemer- just a matter of weeks apart on my amazing journey through South America and then of course The Great Wall of China just last week!
Although I merely saw a fraction of the Great Wall; since it is over 13,000 miles; it truly was amazing and most certainly left me wondering. Like most of the 7 Wonders, The Great wall of China had me wondering how? Just how? How? How? Granted, it was over built over a period of different dynasties, and thousands of years (as early as the 7th century BC) but this Wall is absolutely magnificent in length alone! Not that I saw it all (no where close), but do you know how long 13,171 miles is? The answer is, LONG! To put it into perspective, it is just under 11,500 miles from the UK to New Zealand! Yes, that long!
I don’t think we appreciate just how amazing this wall is. I know I certainly didn’t. Not until very recently anyway. Of course I knew The Great Wall of China was a long long wall that went across (east-to-west) China, but in no way was I made aware, nor did I expect to hear that it was [correction; “Is”] that long!
Separating different Kingdoms, the Great Wall was originally built across the historical northern boarder of China, to protect the Chinese state and Empires from the Eurasian Steppe their desire to raid and invade. Several walls were built, then these were later joined together; made bigger, stronger and of course longer; into the Great Wall it is today!

So I know its been a while (a long long while) but I’m back and so is the VFTT. After almost a year of not having travelled any where, I thought it was time for a break a way- in the Sun of course. A lover of all things exotic, culture and beautiful landscape, I spent 10 amazing days in Bali, Indonesia. After my trip to Thailand in 2013, I know i’d be back to South-East Asia in no time and with only 10 days to spare this time, I know i’ll be back again.
Capturing moments, experiences and tropical element; through vibrant colours, nature and pre-summer time vibes; these View From the Top shots are just a snippet of my first trip to Bali.

…and it continues. As I hop, skip and jump around South America, I can’t help but snap away and with this “challenge” I set myself, the views get even more amazing. Well not my feet per se, but the surrounding views and the visual connotation attached. From the beach, to the bus stop, to the edge of the Earth, the VFTT couldn’t be more exciting. Ok, so I need more shoes but, hey- I’m a traveller (now) and it’s true what they say, you really do “live in your flip flops” -well I sure do anyway.
I know with only 2 pairs, I am slacking but with all these Havaianas stores, the fashionista in me is bound to give in and I’ll end up with a huge variety; of yes, flip flops. As bazaar as I know it sounds, I’ve never seen so many and wanted them all and worse yet; believing they are all extremely different. Yes flip flops! For now I am just wearing these simple because I do not have the capacity to carry a selection of flip flops, never mind any other shoes. However, I have got my eye on a few for my return home, so watch this space because flip flops just got fashionable.
